My current WIP is a wolf drawing I'm making as a gift for a family member. I think this is the first time I've ever drawn a wolf. The fur is surprisingly complex!
Assorted grey pencil colors are mainly being used for this pic.
11 x 14" Bristol smooth paper.

Probably move this to scraps later.

Oh I finally found you! I stumbled across this photo on tumblr, and I absolutely love it - enough that I'm thinking of getting it tattooed on my shoulder. I've been searching for the original artist to make sure they don't mind if I go through with the tattoo, and here you are!

Wow, that's really cool if you do. You have my permission and I would be happy to see a photo of it when it's finished!

Hmm it's pretty awesome, but for a little wolf lover such as me I am a little offended by you saying that the fur is "susprisingly complex", wolves fur are as complex as human brain.

I meant that in order to attain a realistic look, I had to have a better understanding of the way the fur grows and how the coloration varies from one part of the body to the next. A lot of animals, for the most part, have a uniform color that might be broken up with a distinct pattern marking. A wolf, on the other hand, has some very subtle coloration, with each strand changing color from base to tip, this can cause them to look different just by the way the light is hitting them.
